Till Death Do Us Part- Episode 6

                                                6

Driving home and all he could think was how to convince the lady he just left that she is "the one". It was clear for all to see that she wasn't ready for a relationship and listening to her speak tonight, who can blame her really? Yes, I know that this sounds crazy but you know how they say "When you know, you know?" well that was me when I saw Jess again at Niyi's.

Fact is, I have known her (well sort-of) and we have met twice before that day but we hadn't exactly spoken to each other, just a careless but curious hello during one of the meetings which had me semi-stalking her socials😌. Through my absolutely non-creepy Instagram deep dive, I got to know that we apparently attended the same Primary school for  7 years! So, yea meeting 1 & 2.

Having been a victim of the cruel hand of fate, fact is I can totally relate to how she feels right now and the stage she's at because that was me 3 years ago before God saved me from the path I was on, after one aunty decided to use my eye to see shege. In all, thank God for God because I was lost.

It is clear that there is more to her than meets the eye. She is like this puzzle I want to take my sweet time unraveling. Obviously we have to get to know each other well and be actual friends before I can say some things but I know what I want and I've never been one of the most patient persons so... we'll see. I know that she needs time and I will definitely give her that (to the extent that I can💀) because when we are finally together, it wouldn't be because we "fell" in love, it would be because we were intentional and took deliberate steps to BE in love.

What I will not do however, is let her slip from my hands because every time my mind wandered to her, which it did with alarming frequency, it beat faster with nervous anticipation and joyous excitement. It felt odd in my chest. Bigger yet lighter. And as if it suddenly had some purpose now that it had found somebody it could beat for. It's a scary but welcome feeling.

I get here 20 mins before the agreed time because I want to be sure that everything is as organised as it should be. She doesn't know this yet but I took the liberty of ensuring that we had the inside to ourselves. I want zero distractions! Just me, her and good food- thanks to Instagram, I know she has a healthy appetite. So, I may have called in a personal favour with Chef T😉.

With everything in place and a good 10 mins left, I decide to sit at the outdoor bar where I could have a good view of the parking lot just so that when my Jess (yes, my Jess) arrives, she doesn't have to search for me. 5 mins to and I'm beginning to get jittery. Excited but jittery. It came to mind that I hadn't been on a date in a while and I may have lost touch. Sheesh! I feel like a schoolboy about to receive his first kiss from his crush. I'm so lost in thought and I don't see when she walks in from the parking lot...

*************************************************************************************

I see him sitting at the outdoor bar looking debonair and seemingly deep in thought and I freak out a little bit. Remember Jess, this isn't a date! Just a friendly outing so be chilled. Taking a deep breath, I step down from my car and I take one last look at myself thinking "Ife definitely did too much". Who am I kidding? I definitely came dressed for a date. I have on a black Emfed V-neck halter jumpsuit with a 3 inch sandal stiletto heels. For makeup, she went all out. I'm a lipgloss and neutral colour kinda girl but Ife insisted that the new Zara wine matte lipstick is for me and "to die for". When she was done, I most definitely agreed with her because damn! I look different but it was gooooooooood different- In her words, go big or go home! With that thought in mind, I walk into the premises like the royalty I am.

*************************************************************************************

I'll have the Korean Chicken Wings, Creamy Prawn Linguini with a glass of Sauternes. Thank you. Jess says placing her order.

I'll have the same but with Dragon Noodles and please make that a bottle of wine. Jeff says and continues with the serious discussion they were having about orange being the best capri sonne flavour, much to Jess's angst who insists that pineapple is the best thing since sliced bread!

Done with their meal and laughing at something that had been said, while taking final sips from the bottle of wine, the duo have seemingly come to the realisation that they have spent roughly 4 hours just talking, laughing, playing word games and getting acquainted with each other! Time truly does fly when you're having fun.

So, it is agreed right? We're up for dinner over the weekend? Jeff shoots with a confident smirk clear on his face.

It's not like I have a choice since we agreed that the winner gets whatever they ask for, so... Jess says with laughter in her eyes.

In my defence, we made the rules together. So, yes? Jeff continues.

Hahaha. Yes, Jeff. We're up for dinner over the weekend. Jess finally concedes.

Ayyyyy another win in the bag!

Looking forward to that! Oh and in case you were wondering, it is definitely a date 😌. Jeff states.

Jeff didn't have to worry after all because their conversations were genuine, organic and definitely not forced. Apparently, they had a lot in common and you'd be surprised to find that pringles is an interesting topic for a date 😅.

Hey! I know this is late but something came up with my business partners and it seems like they want to launch a new creative space. Jeff messages.

Hey! Oh? Okay... I respond wondering why he is telling me all that. Yea, we had spoken about his business and about my newly setup company which led us back to how he was to meet some people in the lounge that Friday night when the whole Stan fiasco happened but yea why?

So, I recommended you for the Creative Lead position on that project which will run for 6months and my partners want to meet with you tomorrow.

Wait what?! I'm excited but tomorrow?! I knew that Jeff was an astute business man with a thriving consulting firm, I didn't know however that he had any connection whatsoever in the creative space.

Oh wow. Tomorrow?! Okay then. What time please? I shoot back quickly.

4pm prompt. The office is at Jabi. I'll just send you the location. Jeff responds.

Okay. That works. Thank youuuuuu. For the recommendation, the thought, everything. Thank you. I respond finally remembering my home training 😅.

You just need a push and I've seen what you've done in the past so I have no doubt that you've got this. P.S- you owe me an interior revamp 😏 as Niyi said on his birthday. Lol. What are friends for? I have to go now. All the best tomorrow.

Lol. I won't fall your hands. Don't worry, I'll not charge you too much for the design😋.  I have to get to work and come up with a presentation. Also to inform my team and give them heads-up.

Fine, I will let go of the kissing scene for this one.

Did any other person feel like the third wheel on the date. It felt like i was there with them all the way but invisible.

Is there a way you can give us a picture of how Jess and Jeff looks please. My imagination is running kitikiti, it is taking me to where i don't want it to go biko.
