THE 90's FEVER

Hi Guys,

I've been putting off publishing this and several other pieces for a while now, but something just happened to me and I am more inspired to put this out now. 

So, I was just on my own jeje, scrolling through Instastories and I saw a poll that asked "Are you in Love?" I just wanted to click "Yes" and INSTAGRAM  swiped me out?! Likeeeeeee!!  Like, why so judgy Insta? You don't know if I'm in love or not do you??! No, do you?! (answer na. Mtshewww) How dare you??? I was 'single-shamed' by Instagram and as an advocate for the people, I decided to publish this piece, much to the shame of Insta.

Now, to the matter of the day;

This piece was inspired by this amazing 90's R n B Playlist I was listening to that consisted of songs like Bended Knees by Boys II Men, Dilemma by Nelly ft. Kelly, Walking Away by Craig David and some other amazing songs by various artists including Usher, 50 Cent, Destiny's Child etc (You sha get my point). 

Anyways, when listening to it, it just brought pictures of tall, dark and handsome guys dancing in the rain with big stereos (hanging on their shoulders), fat jean trousers, men tank tops, hair braided in cornrows or cut with neat and clear carving and Gucci chains (hahaha) lots of it. And then you as the lady looking down at them from your window, with your halterneck top or flannel shirts and baggy jeans with combat boots, covering your eyes, smiling like you've just eaten the best snickers and blushing so much. With that in mind, I wrote this; 

What I want is a 90's R n B love. 

The starry eyes and racing hearts.

Secret looks and shy smiles.


To have and to hold

Through sunrise and moonrise

On the haunted heart of a HOPEFUL ROMANTIC...


Realizing that love isn't something to be scared of or hidden.

Letting myself go in love.

Seizing what is true, real & infinite.


With someone who makes my soul smile.

Who makes me forget what pain is.

Loving with no holds barred. 


What I want is a 90's R n B love and to be continued... (take that INSTA!! In your face!)

9 JEFF Looking back and reminiscing on how I met Jess and how far we've come always gives me this warm feeling - joy, contentment, love? Not sure which it is but it must be something, and something special at that.  Today is definitely a special day for us - my fiery angel, I, We clock 1 year of being a couple today 💑.
